What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchise agreement defines 'Personal Information' broadly. It includes any data that can be used to identify, locate, or contact an individual or household. This encompasses information related to the franchisee's independent staff, advertisers, and recipients of the Belocal publication.
In addition to identifiable contact details, the definition extends to any information classified as protected personal information under any applicable privacy law. This means Belocal franchisees must be aware of and comply with a variety of data protection regulations at the international, federal, state, and local levels. These 'Privacy Laws' pertain to the privacy, confidentiality, security, management, disclosure, and reporting of Personal Information.
This broad definition means that Belocal franchisees have a significant responsibility to protect the data they handle. They must adhere to Belocal's data protection and security policies, which may govern how personal information is collected, used, stored, processed, shared, or destroyed. Franchisees are also responsible for obtaining any necessary consent for data collection and usage, and for complying with individuals' rights under privacy laws. Failing to properly handle personal information could result in breaches of the franchise agreement and potential legal repercussions.
