What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Belocal franchisees may be required to use only approved vendors for several services. Specifically, Belocal has the right to mandate the use of approved vendors for client relationship management, advertisement strategy, photography, and advertisement material creation services. This means a franchisee might not be able to choose their own providers for these essential business functions.
Belocal's policy allows franchisees to use unapproved publishing assistants or vendors, provided they comply with the standards in the Franchise Brand Standards Manual. However, Belocal retains the right to prohibit the use of any publishing assistant or vendor that fails to meet these standards. This implies that while some flexibility exists, Belocal ultimately controls the quality and standards of all service providers used by its franchisees.
In addition to the services mentioned above, Belocal requires franchisees to use designated third-party providers for business cards and approved vendors for digital signature software. This further restricts a franchisee's choice of vendors and ensures consistency across the Belocal franchise system. These restrictions are typical in franchising, as franchisors seek to maintain brand standards and quality control.
Prospective franchisees should carefully consider these restrictions and evaluate whether they align with their business preferences and existing relationships with service providers. Understanding the criteria Belocal uses for approving vendors, as well as the process for requesting approval of new vendors, is crucial for making an informed decision.
