What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a key pre-opening obligation of Belocal is providing the franchisee with access to the Franchise Brand Standards Manual. This obligation is outlined in Item 11, which details the franchisor's assistance, advertising, computer systems, and training. Specifically, before the franchisee opens their Belocal business, Belocal will provide access to the Franchise Brand Standards Manual, as referenced in the Franchise Agreement, Section 6.A. This access continues during the operation of the franchised business.
The Franchise Brand Standards Manual is also referenced in Item 22, which covers contracts. The manual contains definitions such as that of a 'Qualified Sale' which is tied to the franchisee's obligation to make at least ten Qualified Sales within the first sixteen weeks of operation. Franchisees must also adhere to the standards and requirements for content in their publications, as outlined in the Franchise Brand Standards Manual. These standards include maintaining a minimum monthly commission, including a minimum number of pages in each publication issue, and including a minimum number of articles on specific topics.
Failure to comply with the standards and procedures outlined in the Franchise Brand Standards Manual can result in termination of the Franchise Agreement. This includes not operating the franchised business according to Belocal's standards, failing to maintain the publication with substantive and current information, or violating policies related to Hyport Digital leads and clients. The franchisee's agreement to cooperate with Belocal to verify compliance with these standards is a continuing obligation, and any failure to comply constitutes a material event of default under the Franchise Agreement. Therefore, access to and compliance with the Franchise Brand Standards Manual is crucial for a Belocal franchisee's success and adherence to the Franchise Agreement.
