What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is prohibited from accepting payments directly from any Community, Industry Group, or advertiser for advertising contracts. All fees and amounts payable under Advertising Contracts must be paid directly to Belocal or its affiliate or their designee. Additionally, the franchisee must not make payments on behalf of any Community, Industry Group, or advertiser for any reason.
This restriction ensures that Belocal maintains control over the financial aspects of advertising contracts and prevents franchisees from potentially mismanaging funds or creating conflicts of interest. By centralizing payment processing, Belocal can standardize financial reporting and ensure compliance with its advertising policies.
For a prospective Belocal franchisee, this means they must strictly adhere to the payment protocols established by Belocal. They cannot directly handle advertising payments or make payments on behalf of clients. Failure to comply with these requirements could lead to termination of the franchise agreement.
