Currently, you must include five Staple articles, two Explore Guides, two Points of View articles, one History article, one Hidden Gem article, and twenty Local Tips articles in each issue of the Publication. Staple articles typically feature information for those who recently moved to the area. Explore Guides feature guides to the city's top offerings, while Point of View articles typically feature information about individuals or groups that live in the surrounding area. History articles feature significant buildings, parks, or other landmarks in the area, and a Hidden Gem article typically features local, under-the radar hot spots. Local Tips articles typically include testimonials from residents about must-see events and places around town.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must include specific articles in each publication issue. Currently, a Belocal franchisee is required to include two Points of View articles in each issue of the Publication. These articles typically feature information about individuals or groups that live in the surrounding area.

In addition to the Points of View articles, franchisees must also include five Staple articles, two Explore Guides, one History article, one Hidden Gem article, and twenty Local Tips articles in each issue. Staple articles focus on information for newcomers, Explore Guides highlight the city's top attractions, History articles feature significant local landmarks, Hidden Gem articles showcase under-the-radar spots, and Local Tips articles include resident testimonials about local events and places.

Belocal also requires franchisees to (1) maintain a minimum, monthly Commission for the term of your Franchise Agreement, which is currently at least $3,000 per month for each of the BELOCAL ® publications you manage; (2) include a minimum of 28 pages that meet our standards in each issue of the Publication; (3) include the number of articles each month on the topics required in the Franchise Brand Standards Manual; and (4) complete a minimum number of Qualified Sales (as defined in the Franchise Brand Standards Manual) each Quarter. It is important to note that Belocal retains the right to change the minimum Commission, page number, article, Qualified Sales, and Quarter requirements during the term of the Franchise Agreement, so the franchisee should stay up to date on any changes.
