What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee does not have the right to sell goods and services through any other channel of distribution, whether inside or outside of their territory. The franchise agreement grants the right to sell print advertising for print publications, digital advertising services, and organize local events. However, the only digital advertising services a franchisee is currently authorized to sell are the Extended Reach services.
Belocal franchisees are restricted from distributing the Publication outside of their territory and from marketing or selling any services outside their territory, with limited exceptions. These exceptions include print advertisements for inclusion in the Publication or the publications managed by others and digital advertising services, subject to Belocal's cross-selling policies and digital advertising policies, without prior written consent.
Belocal retains the rights to offer and sell digital marketing services and advertisements and to operate digital publications, and can license these rights to others. Belocal also has the right to require franchisees to sell packages of advertising goods and services to clients, which may include digital components. This policy can be changed or rescinded at Belocal's discretion. Franchisees may solicit leads for Hyport Digital and receive commissions on referrals and client relationship management, with no restrictions on the location of leads or clients, contingent on the continuation of the sales program.
