What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Belocal's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for the expenses incurred if Belocal decides to modify or discontinue the use of any copyrighted materials. This includes items such as the Franchise Brand Standards Manual, design elements of the Marks, bulletins, training materials, advertising, promotional content, online presence, BELOCAL publications, and other written materials related to the franchise operation.
This means that if Belocal updates its branding, marketing strategies, or operational procedures, the franchisee must implement these changes at their own cost. This could involve updating signage, reprinting marketing materials, retraining staff, or modifying the online presence to align with the new standards. The franchisee does not have a choice in the matter and must comply with Belocal's modifications or discontinuation of copyrighted materials.
This requirement places a financial burden on the franchisee, as they must be prepared to cover these potentially unforeseen expenses. It is important for prospective franchisees to factor in these potential costs when evaluating the overall investment and profitability of a Belocal franchise. Franchisees should inquire about the frequency and scope of potential changes to copyrighted materials to better anticipate these expenses.
