Under what conditions can Beggars Pizza conduct inspections of a franchisee's restaurant operation?
Beggars_Pizza Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
- 7.2 Shop Operations. Franchisee must use the Premises solely for the operation of the business franchised hereunder; must keep the Restaurant open and in normal operation for such minimum hours and days as Franchisor may specify; must refrain from using or permitting the use of the Premises for any other purpose or activity at any time without first obtaining the written consent of Franchisor; and must operate the Restaurant in strict conformity with such methods, standards, and specifications as Franchisor may from time to time prescribe in the Manual or
otherwise in writing. Franchisee must refrain from deviating from such standards, specifications, and procedures without Franchisor's prior written consent.
Should Franchisee, for any reason, fail to correct such deficiencies within a reasonable time as determined by Franchisor, Franchisor will have the right, but not the obligation, to correct any deficiencies which may be susceptible to correction by Franchisor and to charge Franchisee a reasonable fee for Franchisor's expenses in so acting, payable to Franchisor upon demand.
Franchisee must maintain the Premises (including the adjacent public areas) in a clean, orderly condition and in excellent repair; and, in connection therewith, Franchisee must, at its expense, make such additions, alterations, repairs and replacements thereto (but no others without Franchisor's prior written consent) as may be required for that purpose including, without limitation, such periodic repainting or replacement of obsolete signs, furnishings, equipment, and décor as Franchisor may reasonably direct.
At Franchisor's request, but no more than once every five (5) years, unless sooner required by Franchisee's lease, Franchisee must refurbish the Premises, at its
expense, to conform to the building design, trade dress, color schemes and presentation of the Proprietary Marks in a manner consistent with the then-current image for new Beggars Pizza® restaurants. Such refurbishment may include, without limitation, structural changes, remodeling, redecoration, and modifications to existing improvements.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
Based on the 2025 Beggars Pizza Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee must operate their restaurant in strict conformity with the methods, standards, and specifications that Beggars Pizza prescribes in the manual or in writing. The franchisee cannot deviate from these standards, specifications, and procedures without prior written consent from Beggars Pizza.
Beggars Pizza emphasizes the importance of maintaining high operating standards to increase demand for products and protect the company's reputation and goodwill. As such, Beggars Pizza retains the right to ensure franchisees adhere to these standards. If a franchisee fails to correct deficiencies within a reasonable time, Beggars Pizza has the right, but not the obligation, to correct any deficiencies susceptible to correction and charge the franchisee a reasonable fee for expenses incurred. This fee is payable upon demand and is in addition to any other remedies Beggars Pizza may have.
Furthermore, the franchisee is responsible for maintaining the premises, including adjacent public areas, in a clean and orderly condition and in excellent repair. This includes making necessary additions, alterations, repairs, and replacements at the franchisee's expense. Beggars Pizza may also direct periodic repainting or replacement of obsolete signs, furnishings, equipment, and décor. At Beggars Pizza's request, but no more than once every five years (unless required sooner by the lease), the franchisee must refurbish the premises to conform to the current image for new Beggars Pizza restaurants, which may include structural changes, remodeling, redecoration, and modifications to existing improvements.
