What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the renewal fee is generally non-refundable. Specifically, Section 4.1 of the Franchise Agreement states that the entire renewal franchise fee is fully earned and non-refundable. This is to cover the administrative and other expenses that Beggars Pizza incurs when granting the renewal franchise. It also compensates Beggars Pizza for the lost opportunity to offer a franchise to someone else.
This means that once a franchisee pays the renewal fee to continue operating their Beggars Pizza franchise, they cannot get that money back, regardless of circumstances. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as the franchisor incurs costs from the moment they approve the renewal.
Prospective franchisees should carefully consider their financial situation and the likelihood of continuing the franchise before deciding to renew and paying the associated fee, as there are no provisions for refunds.
