5.1 Construction. Franchisee must renovate or construct, and equip, the Restaurant at Franchisee's own expense. Before commencing any renovation or construction of the Restaurant, Franchisee, at its expense, must adapt the preliminary plans and drawings that Franchisor provides to Franchisee under Section 3.1 above by having prepared draft and final architectural drawings and specifications of the Premises by a licensed architect or engineer. Such draft and final drawings and specifications must be submitted to Franchisor for its prior written approval. The drawings and specifications must not thereafter be changed or modified without the prior written approval of Franchisor. Franchisor's approval hereunder will not relate to Franchisee's obligations with respect to any federal, state, or local laws, codes or regulations including, without limitation, the applicable provisions of the ADA regarding the construction, design, and operation of the Restaurant, which will be Franchisee's sole responsibility.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, before beginning any renovation or construction of a restaurant, a franchisee must adapt the preliminary plans and drawings provided by Beggars Pizza. This adaptation must be done at the franchisee's own expense by a licensed architect or engineer, who will prepare draft and final architectural drawings and specifications of the premises.
These draft and final drawings and specifications must then be submitted to Beggars Pizza for prior written approval. This ensures that the design aligns with the brand's standards and specifications.
Furthermore, the franchisee cannot change or modify the drawings and specifications without the prior written approval of Beggars Pizza. However, Beggars Pizza's approval does not relate to the franchisee's obligations regarding federal, state, or local laws, codes, or regulations, including ADA compliance, which remains the franchisee's sole responsibility.
