Is Beggars Pizza obligated to provide on-site, pre-opening, and opening assistance?

According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Beggars Pizza will provide one representative to provide on-site, pre-opening, and opening assistance, but the extent of this assistance is determined at their sole discretion. This means that while Beggars Pizza offers support during these critical phases, the level of support can vary.

Prior to the restaurant opening, Beggars Pizza is obligated to provide several forms of assistance. If a franchisee does not have an approved location before signing the Franchise Agreement, Beggars Pizza will provide site selection guidelines and consultation. They will also conduct up to two on-site evaluations at their expense. Additional on-site evaluations will be at the franchisee's expense, covering travel, lodging, and meals. Beggars Pizza will also provide a preliminary layout for the restaurant site based on their standard plans, including exterior and interior design, layout, and specifications for furniture, fixtures, and signage.

Beggars Pizza also provides initial training for the franchisee and their managers. This training is approximately 15 days and takes place at their headquarters in Blue Island, Illinois, or at an affiliate-owned Beggars Pizza restaurant in Illinois. While there is no tuition fee for the training program, the franchisee is responsible for all expenses related to travel, lodging, meals, and wages for those attending the training. This initial training must be completed before the restaurant opens, and any subsequently employed managers must complete the training within 90 days of their hire date.

While Beggars Pizza does offer assistance, the franchisee should be aware that the level of support for on-site, pre-opening, and opening activities is subject to Beggars Pizza's discretion. Franchisees should communicate with Beggars Pizza to understand what level of support they can expect. Additionally, franchisees are responsible for various costs associated with site selection and training, which should be factored into their initial investment.
