Is Beggars Pizza obligated to establish an Extranet?

- 8.7 Extranet.
Franchisor may, but is not obligated to, establish an Extranet.
The term "Extranet" means a private network based upon Internet protocols that will allow users inside and outside of Franchisor's headquarters to access certain parts of Franchisor's computer network via the Internet.
If Franchisor does establish an Extranet, then Franchisee must comply with Franchisor's requirements (as set forth in the Manual or otherwise in writing) with respect to connecting to the Extranet and utilizing the Extranet in connection with the operation of the Restaurant.
The Extranet may include, without limitation, the Manual, training and other assistance materials, and management reporting solutions (both upstream and downstream, as Franchisor may direct).
Franchisee must purchase and maintain such computer software and hardware (including, without limitation, telecommunications capacity) as may be required to connect to and utilize the Extranet.
Franchisor may require Franchisee to install a video, voice, and data system that is accessible in real time by both Franchisor and Franchisee on a secure Internet website in accordance with Franchisor's then-current written standards as set forth in the Manual or otherwise in writing.
Franchisee must comply with Franchisor's requirements as set forth in the Manual or otherwise in writing with respect to establishing and maintaining telecommunications connections between Franchisee's Computer System, the Extranet, and/or such other computer systems as Franchisor may reasonably require.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Beggars Pizza is not obligated to establish an Extranet. The FDD specifies that Beggars Pizza "may, but is not obligated to, establish an Extranet." An Extranet is defined as a private network using Internet protocols, allowing both internal and external users to access parts of Beggars Pizza's computer network.
If Beggars Pizza does establish an Extranet, franchisees must comply with all requirements for connecting to and using it, as outlined in the manual or in writing. The Extranet may include the manual, training materials, and management reporting solutions.
Furthermore, franchisees are responsible for purchasing and maintaining the necessary computer software and hardware to connect to and utilize the Extranet. Beggars Pizza may also require franchisees to install a real-time video, voice, and data system accessible via a secure Internet website, following Beggars Pizza's written standards. Franchisees must also comply with requirements for maintaining telecommunications connections between their computer systems, the Extranet, and any other computer systems that Beggars Pizza reasonably requires.
