What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Beggars Pizza FDD, franchisees are permitted to make one copy of the installed software for backup purposes. This allowance is explicitly stated in the franchise agreement, ensuring franchisees have a safeguard against data loss or system failure. Any additional copies of the software require prior written consent from the President of SpeedLine or other authorized personnel.
This restriction on copying the software is typical in franchising, as it protects the franchisor's intellectual property and ensures consistent software usage across all franchise locations. Unauthorized copying could lead to security vulnerabilities, software malfunctions, and potential copyright infringement issues. Beggars Pizza franchisees must adhere to this policy to remain in compliance with their franchise agreement.
Furthermore, franchisees are prohibited from copying the documentation accompanying the software in any form or medium. This restriction extends beyond the software itself, reinforcing the protection of proprietary information. Franchisees should maintain their backup copy securely and avoid any unauthorized duplication or distribution of the software or its related materials.
