What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company may periodically make approved advertising and promotional materials available to franchisees. These materials can include merchandising and point-of-purchase items, as well as materials for special promotions. However, the franchisee is responsible for the expense of these materials.
Beggars Pizza maintains significant control over all advertising and promotion. Franchisees must seek written approval from Beggars Pizza for any advertising or promotional plans and materials they wish to use that have not been prepared or previously approved within the preceding six months. If written notice of approval is not received within 15 days of Beggars Pizza receiving the materials, the plans are considered disapproved. Franchisees are also required to participate in all promotional programs developed by Beggars Pizza, including the issuance and acceptance of gift cards, loyalty cards, gift certificates, and coupons.
In addition to these requirements, franchisees must contribute to the Brand Fund, paying a weekly fee of 1% of their gross sales from the preceding accounting period. These contributions are used exclusively for advertising, marketing, public relations, and promotional programs aimed at enhancing the image of the Beggars Pizza system. This includes various advertising campaigns, website maintenance, market research, and providing promotional materials to businesses operating under the Beggars Pizza system. During the most recent fiscal year, 57% of Brand Fund expenditures were allocated to media placement, team sponsorships, and donations, while 33% was spent on production, and 10% covered administrative and related expenses.
