What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all data pertaining to or derived from the Restaurant is the exclusive property of the franchisor. However, Beggars Pizza grants the franchisee a royalty-free, nonexclusive license to use this data during the term of the agreement. This data includes information about customers and other data related to the restaurant's operations.
This means that while Beggars Pizza owns all the data generated by the restaurant, franchisees can use it to operate their business without paying additional royalties. This license is valid only for the duration of the franchise agreement. The franchisee's use of the data must align with the agreement's terms and conditions.
This arrangement is common in franchising, allowing the franchisor to maintain control over valuable data assets while enabling franchisees to leverage that data for local marketing and operational improvements. However, franchisees should be aware that they cannot use this data for any purpose outside the scope of the franchise agreement, and they must adhere to all applicable privacy laws.
