What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are explicitly prohibited from reverse engineering the SpeedLine service or its technology. The agreement with SpeedLine, which Beggars Pizza franchisees must adhere to, clearly states that customers (franchisees) may not alter, resell, or sublicense the service, nor provide it as a service bureau.

This restriction is in place to protect SpeedLine's intellectual property and maintain the integrity of its software. The FDD emphasizes that SpeedLine retains all rights in the service, granting only a limited license to access and use it as expressly stated in the agreement. Franchisees are also barred from using the service to build a competitive product, create similar features, make derivative works, or copy any aspect of the service.

This restriction has significant implications for a prospective Beggars Pizza franchisee. It means they cannot attempt to understand the underlying code or structure of the SpeedLine service for any purpose, including creating their own software or integrating it with other systems in ways not explicitly permitted. Violating this provision could lead to legal action from SpeedLine and potential termination of the franchise agreement with Beggars Pizza. Franchisees must rely on SpeedLine for all support, updates, and modifications to the service, and any desired changes or integrations would need to be negotiated with SpeedLine directly.
