What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees acknowledge that the franchisor has developed proprietary, confidential, and trade secret recipes that are part of the Beggars Pizza system. These recipes include, but are not limited to, pizza dough, spaghetti and pizza sauces, sausage, and secret spice blends. The franchisor may also develop additional recipes and products in the future.
These trade secret items are considered essential to the operation of a Beggars Pizza restaurant. Franchisees also acknowledge that they must purchase these items from Begcom, an affiliate of Beggars Pizza, or other designated suppliers to ensure the uniform quality and image associated with the restaurant. Begcom is the designated supplier for food items and supplies such as cheeses, sausages, and paper products.
This means that as a franchisee, you are agreeing that the specific recipes used by Beggars Pizza are confidential and important to the brand's success. You are also agreeing to purchase these proprietary items exclusively from approved suppliers to maintain quality control and consistency across all franchise locations. This protects Beggars Pizza's brand identity and ensures customers receive a consistent product, but it also limits the franchisee's ability to source ingredients independently.
