nchisor may establish reasonable new standards for the implementation of technology in the System. Franchisee must abide by those reasonable new standards established by Franchisor as if the Agreement were periodically revised by Franchisor for that purpose.
9. OPERATING MANUAL
9.1 Standards of Operation. In order to protect the reputation and goodwill of Franchisor and to maintain high standards of operation under the System, Franchisee must operate the Restaurant in accordance with the standards, methods, policies, and procedures specified in the Manual, one copy of which Franchisee will receive on loan from Franchisor for the term of the Agreement upon completion by Franchisee of Franchisor's initial training program to Franchisor's satisfaction. The Manual may consist of multiple volumes of printed text, computer disks, other
electronically stored data, DVDs, and/or videotapes. Franchisor may provide a portion or all of the Manual including, without limitation, updates, amendments, and other instructional information and materials in or via electronic media including, without limitation, through the Internet. If Franchisee's copy of the Manual is lost, stolen, or destroyed, Franchisee must obtain another copy of the Manual from Franchisor and pay Franchisor a replacement fee of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250).
- 9.2 Confidentiality. Franchisee must treat the Manual, any other manuals created for or approved for use in the operation of the Restaurant, and the information contained therein, as confidential, and must use all reasonable efforts to maintain such information as secret and confidential. Franchisee will not copy, duplicate, record, or otherwise reproduce the foregoing materials, in whole or in part, or otherwise make the same available to any unauthorized person.
- 9.3 Exclusive Property. The Manual will remain the sole property of Franchisor and will be kept in a secure place on the Premises.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the operating manual is provided to the franchisee on loan for the term of the agreement. Upon completion of the initial training program, the franchisee will receive one copy of the manual. The manual may be in various formats, including printed text, computer disks, electronically stored data, DVDs, or videotapes. Beggars Pizza may also provide updates and amendments to the manual electronically, including through the Internet.
The Beggars Pizza franchisee does not own the manual, as it remains the sole property of Beggars Pizza and must be kept in a secure place at the premises. The franchisee is responsible for keeping the manual current and must comply with any new or changed standards. If there is a dispute regarding the contents of the manual, the master copy maintained by Beggars Pizza at its home office will be the controlling version.
If the franchisee loses, has stolen, or destroys their copy of the manual, they must obtain a replacement from Beggars Pizza and pay a fee of $250. The franchisee must also treat the manual as confidential and not copy, duplicate, record, reproduce, or make it available to any unauthorized person. Upon termination or expiration of the franchise agreement, the franchisee must cease using any confidential information, methods, procedures, and techniques associated with the Beggars Pizza system.
