What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beggars Pizza's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the SpeedLine Solutions Inc. Software License Agreement outlines specific restrictions on how franchisees can use the software. Beggars Pizza franchisees are prohibited from actions such as copying the software (except for a single backup copy), reverse engineering, decompiling, disassembling, decrypting, modifying, adapting, or translating the software in any way. They also cannot merge the software into another computer program or rewrite it into a different programming language.
Additionally, Beggars Pizza franchisees are not allowed to sell, rent, lease, license, transfer, lend, or give away the software. They are also prohibited from "framing" or "mirroring" the Online Services. Furthermore, using the SpeedLine software to test or improve a competing software package without prior written approval from authorized SpeedLine personnel is a violation of the agreement.
These restrictions are typical in software licensing agreements to protect the intellectual property rights of the software developer, SpeedLine Solutions Inc. For a prospective Beggars Pizza franchisee, this means they must adhere strictly to the terms of the license and can only use the software as intended for their retail point-of-sale operations. Any deviation from these terms could result in a breach of the agreement and potential legal consequences.
It is important for potential Beggars Pizza franchisees to fully understand these limitations before entering into the agreement to ensure they can comply with all the terms and conditions. Franchisees should seek clarification from SpeedLine or Beggars Pizza regarding any uncertainties about permitted or restricted uses of the software.
