Answer from 2025 FDD Document

The Franchisor does not and has not conducted or operated any Homes of the type that are to be operated by YOU and, except as described here, neither has any of its predecessors or affiliates. However, certain affiliates of Bee Hive Homes, Inc., including its principals, have operated Homes which are similar to the type being franchised, although these Homes were not operated as franchises. Mr. Twayne K. Walker, principal of Bee Hive Homes, Inc. and its affiliates, has conducted and operated a business of the type to be operated by YOU, having operated up to six Homes of the type being franchised, the first of which was opened in November 1987. These Homes were subsequently sold to third parties. Mr. Dennis R. Toland has conducted and operated a business of the type to be operated by YOU, having operated up to four Homes of the type being franchised, the first of which was opened in November 1991. These Homes were subsequently sold to third parties.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Beehive Homes' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the principals of Beehive Homes did operate similar homes, but not as franchises. The FDD specifies that while the franchisor itself has not operated homes of the type being franchised, certain affiliates and principals have experience operating similar homes.

Specifically, Mr. Twayne K. Walker, a principal of Beehive Homes, Inc. and its affiliates, operated up to six homes of the type being franchised, with the first opening in November 1987. Mr. Dennis R. Toland also operated up to four similar homes, starting in November 1991. It is important to note that these homes were later sold to third parties.

Beehive Homes, Inc. began offering franchises in November 1992. This indicates that the principals gained experience in the assisted living business before transitioning to franchising. This prior experience of its principals in operating similar homes could be beneficial for franchisees as they can draw upon this knowledge and expertise.
