What does the Lead Fee compensate Beauty Bungalows for regarding the potential granting of a new franchise?
Beauty_Bungalows Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
The Lead Fee (including the portion of the sales price) compensates Franchisor for its lost opportunity of potentially granting a new franchise to the Lead as each year Franchisor spends significant resources to attract and identify Leads.
The Lead Fee does not apply if Franchisor directly shares a Lead with Franchisee before Franchisor, in its sole discretion, has had significant contact with the Lead in connection with the possibility of purchasing a Beauty Bungalows franchise.
For purposes of this Section, "Lead" means (a) a person or entity who contacts, or has been contacted by, Franchisor (including our authorized representative or affiliate) in connection with the possibility of purchasing a Beauty Bungalows franchise for a new market area or territory and/or (b) a lead located in our contact management system ("CMS") (in both (a) and (b), a "Lead" does not include someone who is an existing franchisee in the Beauty Bungalows system).
Franchisee acknowledges that "contact" may be in person, in writing, by email, by telephone, or by CMS.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beauty Bungalows' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Lead Fee compensates Beauty Bungalows for the lost opportunity of potentially granting a new franchise to the Lead. This fee acknowledges the resources Beauty Bungalows spends each year to attract and identify Leads. In essence, the Lead Fee covers Beauty Bungalows' expenses and efforts in finding and qualifying potential franchisees who might otherwise be granted a franchise.
For a prospective Beauty Bungalows franchisee, this means that if they acquire a lead that Beauty Bungalows has already invested resources in attracting and identifying, they may be subject to a Lead Fee. This fee is intended to reimburse Beauty Bungalows for their initial investment in that lead. However, the Lead Fee does not apply if Beauty Bungalows directly shares a Lead with the franchisee before Beauty Bungalows has had significant contact with the Lead regarding the possibility of purchasing a Beauty Bungalows franchise.
The FDD defines a "Lead" as someone who has contacted Beauty Bungalows (or been contacted by them) about potentially purchasing a franchise for a new market area or territory, or a lead located in Beauty Bungalows' contact management system. This definition excludes existing Beauty Bungalows franchisees. The contact can be in person, in writing, by email, or by telephone.
It's important for potential franchisees to understand the circumstances under which the Lead Fee applies, as it can impact the overall cost of acquiring a franchise. Franchisees should clarify with Beauty Bungalows the specific criteria for assessing the Lead Fee and ensure they understand how leads are identified and shared within the system.
