What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Beard Papas Franchise Disclosure Document, the total estimate provided for a Multi-Unit Development Agreement does not include the estimated initial investment for each shop developed under the agreement, except for the first shop. The total estimate covers the initial investment for one Beard Papas shop, the Development Area Fee, and the initial franchise fee for the first shop.
Under a Multi-Unit Development Agreement, a franchisee gains the right to develop and operate between three to ten Beard Papas shops. The Development Area Fee varies between $66,400 and $269,100, depending on the number of shops the franchisee is authorized to develop beyond the first shop. The initial franchise fee is discounted to either $33,200 or $29,900 for each additional shop, depending on whether the agreement authorizes the development of three to four shops or five to ten shops, respectively.
For a prospective Beard Papas franchisee, this means that while the initial estimate to enter into a Multi-Unit Development Agreement ranges from $184,900 to $701,100, this figure primarily covers the fees and initial investment for only the first shop. The franchisee should anticipate significant additional investment for each subsequent shop they plan to develop, as the estimate does not account for these costs. It is important to carefully consider the financial implications of developing multiple units and to factor in the estimated initial investment for each additional shop when evaluating the overall cost of the Multi-Unit Development Agreement.
