What This Means (2025 FDD)
The 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document states that Beard Papas franchisees are responsible for the maintenance and repair of their leased shop locations. The franchisee is responsible for constructing all required improvements to the shop location, purchasing and installing all required furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and decorating the premises. This must be done in compliance with the plans and specifications approved in writing by Beard Papas and all applicable ordinances, building codes, permit requirements, and lease or deed requirements and restrictions.
Beard Papas franchisees must exclusively install, use, maintain, replenish, and replace only those types of construction and decorating materials, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and signs that Beard Papas has approved or designated in the Operations Manual. These items must meet Beard Papas' specifications and standards for appearance, function, and performance. Franchisees can only purchase approved or designated types of construction and decorating materials, fixtures, equipment, furniture, and signs from suppliers approved or designated by Beard Papas, which may include Beard Papas and its affiliates.
Prospective franchisees should carefully review the Operations Manual and approved supplier lists to understand the full scope of these requirements and associated costs. It is also important to factor in the ongoing expenses related to maintenance, repairs, and replacements when evaluating the financial viability of a Beard Papas franchise.
