What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Beard Papas FDD, Beard Papas does not provide assistance with hiring and training franchisee's employees. The FDD states that franchisees are directly responsible for the management and supervision of their employees. Franchisees must ensure employees wear proper uniforms with approved System branded apparel and uniforms. Franchisees must also monitor and ensure that all System Supplies and Approved Services and Products are prepared, maintained, and served in accordance with the System standards and Manuals.

However, Beard Papas does provide initial training for the franchisee (or their Managing Owner if the franchisee is a Corporate Entity) and two designated managers. This initial training program must be successfully attended and completed no later than one week before the Shop opens. If more than three individuals attend initial training, the franchisee will be charged an additional fee. The franchisee is responsible for paying employee wages incurred during initial training attendance and participation. The initial training program takes place over approximately five days.

Beard Papas may also require the franchisee and their Operating Manager to participate in supplemental on-site training, for which the franchisee will be required to pay a supplemental training fee, currently $800 per on-site trainer per day, plus travel expenses, meals, and accommodation expenses incurred by Beard Papas. Additionally, if a replacement Operating Manager needs training, Beard Papas will offer the initial training program at the Shop Location, and the franchisee will be required to pay a supplemental training fee, currently $5,000 for each replacement manager training.
