What happens if I request approval for marketing materials from Beard Papas?

If you wish to utilize marketing materials and/or marketing mediums that are not currently approved by us in writing, you may submit a written request requesting permission and we will approve or disapprove of your request within 15 days of your submission of the written request and sample marketing materials. We are not required to spend any amount on your behalf on advertising in your designated territory and we are not required to conduct any advertising on behalf of the franchise System or on your behalf. What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beard Papas's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you want to use marketing materials or mediums not already approved, you can submit a written request. Beard Papas will then either approve or disapprove your request within 15 days of receiving it, along with sample marketing materials. However, Beard Papas is not obligated to spend any money on advertising in your territory or conduct advertising on behalf of the franchise system or you.
This means that as a Beard Papas franchisee, you have the option to propose your own marketing strategies, but they are subject to the franchisor's approval. The 15-day turnaround provides a reasonable timeframe for you to receive a response. However, you cannot proceed with unapproved marketing, and Beard Papas retains full discretion over marketing standards and materials.
Beard Papas also requires franchisees to spend a minimum of 2% of monthly gross sales on local marketing, and all marketing must be pre-approved. While Beard Papas may provide access to approved marketing campaigns, the franchisee bears the costs of customizing, duplicating, and distributing these materials. This highlights the importance of budgeting for marketing expenses and understanding the approval process to effectively promote your Beard Papas location.
