What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beard Papas's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase specific furniture, fixtures, and equipment for their shops. This includes items like baking equipment, mixing equipment, refrigeration units, freezers, kitchen equipment, prep stations, smallwares, and service stations, and these must be acquired from Beard Papas, their approved manufacturers, or suppliers, and/or adhere to their specifications. The costs can vary based on material quality and other factors, with the size of the shop being a significant influence on the overall expense.
The FDD notes that the provided costs do not include transportation or setup expenses for these items. It is also assumed that some of the equipment will be leased, which suggests that the initial investment figures may be lower if leasing is utilized. However, if a franchisee chooses to purchase the equipment outright, the costs will be higher. The document also mentions that third-party financing might be available for leasehold improvements for qualified candidates, but this would come with associated costs and fees that could increase the overall investment beyond what is initially indicated.
While the FDD specifies the types of furniture, fixtures, and equipment needed and factors influencing their costs, it does not provide a specific estimated range for these expenses. A prospective franchisee should inquire with Beard Papas about the typical costs associated with these items, considering the size and type of shop (stand-alone or kiosk) they plan to open. Understanding these costs is crucial for accurate financial planning and assessing the overall feasibility of the franchise investment.
