Bb_Q_Chicken Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
- 10.2.3 New Concepts. If You or Principal(s) develops any new concept, process, product, recipe, or improvement in the operation or promotion of the Franchised Business ("Improvements"), Franchisee is required to promptly notify Franchisor and provide Franchisor with all related information, processes, products, recipe or other improvements, and sign any and all forms, documents and/or papers necessary for Franchisor to obtain full proprietary rights to such Improvements, without compensation and without any claim of ownership or proprietary rights to such Improvements. You or Principal(s) acknowledge that any such Improvements will become the property of Franchisor, and Franchisor may use or disclose such information to other franchisees as it determines to be appropriate. Franchisee acknowledges and agrees that nothing in this Section 10.2.3 permits Franchisee to test, introduce, provide, or otherwise offer any Improvement to customers, or use any Improvement in the operation of the Franchised Business, unless and until Franchisor consents to the use of the Improvement for such purpose.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bb.Q Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee is required to promptly notify Bb.Q Chicken of any new concept, process, product, recipe, or improvement in the operation or promotion of the franchised business. The franchisee must provide Bb.Q Chicken with all related information and sign any documents necessary for Bb.Q Chicken to obtain full proprietary rights to such improvements.
The FDD states that any such improvements become the property of Bb.Q Chicken, who may then use or disclose the information to other franchisees as it deems appropriate. Importantly, the franchisee is not allowed to test, introduce, provide, or otherwise offer any improvement to customers, or use any improvement in the operation of the franchised business, unless and until Bb.Q Chicken consents to the use of the improvement for such purpose.
This means that while Bb.Q Chicken encourages franchisees to innovate and develop improvements, the franchisee does not have the autonomy to implement these changes independently. Any new ideas or modifications must be first submitted to Bb.Q Chicken for approval. This allows Bb.Q Chicken to maintain consistency and quality control across all franchise locations, ensuring that any changes align with the brand's overall strategy and standards. This is a fairly common practice in franchising, where maintaining brand uniformity is a key objective.
