What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bb.Q Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Marks, along with other aspects of the Bb.Q Chicken system, can be changed or improved by the franchisor at any time. Specifically, the FDD states that the franchisor's proprietary recipes, formulae, techniques, trade dress, trademarks and logos, all of which may be changed, improved, or further developed by Franchisor at any time. These elements collectively constitute the "System".
This provision grants Bb.Q Chicken broad discretion to modify its brand and operational standards. For a franchisee, this means that the visual identity, marketing strategies, and even the core menu of their Bb.Q Chicken restaurant could evolve over time. While such changes could be beneficial, keeping the brand relevant and competitive, they also carry potential risks. Franchisees may need to adapt their businesses, incur additional costs to update branding elements, or adjust to new operational procedures.
It is common in franchising for franchisors to retain the right to update and modify their systems to maintain brand standards and competitiveness. However, prospective Bb.Q Chicken franchisees should carefully consider the implications of these potential changes and discuss with the franchisor how such changes are typically communicated and implemented, and what support is provided to franchisees during these transitions. Understanding the franchisor's vision for the brand's future and their approach to system-wide updates is crucial for making an informed investment decision.
