Who must approve the General Manager of a Bb.Q Chicken franchise?

Bb_Q_Chicken Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must designate a general manager who will be the main individual responsible for your business (the "General Manager"). We recommend, but do not require, that you be the General Manager. Your General Manager does not have to own an equity interest in you or the franchise. The General Manager must sign covenants to maintain the confidentiality of information he/she learns while employed as your General Manager, and your General Manager must sign non-competition covenants.

You must also designate one of your Principals as the operating principal for your Franchised Business. Your operating principal will be our primary point of contact for matters related to your Franchised Business, and we will rely on your operating principal to make decisions affecting your Franchised Business. Your operating principal must work in the Franchised Business on a full-time basis.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bb.Q Chicken's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, while the franchisee must designate a General Manager for their business, the General Manager themselves does not require approval from Bb.Q Chicken. However, if the franchisee is not actively involved in the daily operations of the Bb.Q Chicken franchise, they must designate an operating principal who owns at least a 5% interest in the franchise. This operating principal does require approval from Bb.Q Chicken.

The operating principal will act as the primary contact for Bb.Q Chicken and must complete the required initial training to the franchisor's satisfaction. The operating principal must also work full-time at the Bb.Q Chicken franchise location. If the operating principal cannot fulfill their duties or no longer meets the requirements, they must be replaced within 30 days.

Bb.Q Chicken's requirement for an approved operating principal ensures that someone with a vested interest and the franchisor's confidence is overseeing the daily operations, especially when the franchisee is not directly involved. This arrangement allows Bb.Q Chicken to maintain brand standards and operational consistency across all franchise locations. The General Manager, whether it is the franchisee or someone else, is responsible for the business, but the operating principal is the approved liaison with Bb.Q Chicken.
