What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Baymont Inn Suites's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees do not have direct approval rights regarding additional fees for Additional Services. The FDD states that franchisees will pay for all Additional Services as applicable.
While the document does not explicitly state that Baymont Inn Suites requires franchisee approval before charging additional fees, it does outline various fees that franchisees are responsible for. These include loyalty program charges ranging from 4.25% to 5.5% based on enrollment metrics, potential missed enrollment fees up to $400 per month, and fees for resolving loyalty member issues. Franchisees are also responsible for customer care costs if they fail to resolve guest complaints satisfactorily and for Wyndham Response Fees for the company's responses to customer surveys and online reviews, costing $15.00 for each "detractor" review and $6.00 for each "neutral" review.
Baymont Inn Suites also charges fees related to reservations, such as GDS Fees, Internet Booking Fees, and Third-Party Channel Fees, which can be altered or modified with written notice. Additionally, there's a Best Rate Guarantee Processing Fee of $195 if a lower rate is identified elsewhere. A Reconnection Fee of $4,000 is charged if Central Reservation System service is suspended and needs to be restored.
Given that Baymont Inn Suites outlines these fees and the circumstances under which they are applied, it appears that franchisees are obligated to pay them as part of their franchise agreement without necessarily having approval rights for each individual charge. However, franchisees receive prior written notice regarding changes to reservation-related fees, suggesting a degree of transparency, if not direct control.
