What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Baymont Inn Suites's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all fees continue to accrue even while a facility is suspended from the reservation system. This means that even if a franchisee cannot receive reservations through the Baymont Inn Suites system due to a default or failure to meet obligations, they are still responsible for paying all applicable fees.
Specifically, the System Assessment Fee, which includes a Marketing Contribution and a Basic Reservation Fee, accrues from the Opening Date until the end of the Term, including during reservation suspension periods. The franchisee must fully resolve any defaults and failures to pay or perform to have reservation service restored. Additionally, Baymont Inn Suites may charge a Reconnection Fee, as specified in Schedule C, to cover the costs associated with the suspension and restoration of the service.
This policy has significant financial implications for franchisees. If a Baymont Inn Suites location is suspended from the reservation system, the franchisee will not only lose revenue from potential bookings but will also continue to incur franchise fees. This could create a challenging financial situation, especially if the suspension period is lengthy. Franchisees should ensure they understand the conditions that could lead to suspension and have a plan in place to quickly address any issues to minimize the impact on their business.
