What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Batteries Plus Bulbs Franchise Disclosure Document, Batteries Plus Bulbs will notify a franchisee in writing if they elect to revoke approval of a supplier. If a supplier's approval is revoked, the franchisee has 30 days to stop offering, selling, or using the products or services from that supplier in their store.
This policy is important for prospective franchisees to understand because it directly impacts their supply chain and ability to source products. Franchisees must maintain compliance with Batteries Plus Bulbs's approved supplier list, and any changes to that list could require them to find alternative sources for their inventory. Failing to comply with the approved supplier list could result in a breach of the franchise agreement.
Batteries Plus Bulbs may revise the approved supplier list as they deem advisable. If a franchisee wants to use any unapproved material, fixture, equipment, furniture or sign, or purchase any items from any supplier that Batteries Plus Bulbs has not approved, the franchisee must first obtain approval by notifying Batteries Plus Bulbs in writing and must submit sufficient information for Batteries Plus Bulbs to determine whether the services, material, fixture, equipment, furniture or sign complies with their specifications and standards, or the supplier meets their approved supplier criteria. Batteries Plus Bulbs will notify the franchisee of their decision within a reasonable time following receipt of all information requested. The franchisee must pay the reasonable cost of the inspection and evaluation and the actual cost of the test. Batteries Plus Bulbs may reinspect the facilities and products of any supplier or approved item and revoke approval of any item or supplier which fails to continue to meet any of their criteria. Batteries Plus Bulbs will send written notice of any revocation of an approved supplier or supply.
As part of the approval process, Batteries Plus Bulbs may require that a proposed supplier sign a supplier agreement covering such items as insurance, product quality, trademark use, and indemnification. Batteries Plus Bulbs does not provide material benefits to franchisees based on their use of designated or approved sources.
