What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Batteries Plus Bulbs's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to remodel their store upon notice from Batteries Plus Bulbs, ensuring it meets the current brand standards. The extent of the remodeling can vary significantly, ranging from simple painting to a complete overhaul, including replacing fixtures, signs, supplies, and equipment. The FDD does not provide an estimated cost for these refurbishing projects, as the requirements differ from store to store.

Importantly, the document specifies that franchisees can make payments for these refurbishing projects to various third parties, either in whole or in part. This provides franchisees with some flexibility in choosing vendors and managing costs associated with the remodeling. However, franchisees must ensure that all refurbishing work complies with Batteries Plus Bulbs's standards.

This flexibility in payment options can be beneficial for franchisees, allowing them to potentially negotiate better rates or work with local contractors they trust. However, it also places the onus on the franchisee to ensure the quality and compliance of the work performed by these third parties. Prospective franchisees should inquire about the specific standards and approval processes for refurbishing to fully understand their obligations and potential costs.
