What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Batteries Plus Bulbs's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must pay a Retail Management System (RMS) access and development fee of $38,968. This fee grants access to designated software, licenses for store web security, network connectivity, and anti-virus software. Prospective franchisees should note that this fee is in addition to the initial franchise fee.
The RMS fee is due on or before the date the Batteries Plus Bulbs store opens for business. This fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, meaning that if the franchisee's plans change or the business does not succeed, the $38,968 will not be returned.
In addition to the RMS fee, franchisees must also pay $10,000 for access to the "Omni-Channel Program," which promotes sales through electronic channels. These technology-related fees are typical in franchising, as franchisors need to ensure consistent systems and branding across all locations. The initial investment for a Batteries Plus Bulbs franchise can be significant when considering these technology fees, the initial franchise fee, inventory costs, and other required expenses.
