What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Batteries Plus Bulbs' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the store must be under the franchisee's direct supervision at all times. However, if the franchisee is a partnership, corporation, or limited liability company, a Principal Owner or an operating manager can supervise the store, provided they are identified by the franchisee, approved by Batteries Plus Bulbs, and have satisfactorily completed the designated training program.
If an operating manager is supervising the Batteries Plus Bulbs store, the franchisee must complete the investor training program and ensure that at least two approved store managers are on staff at all times. These managers must have successfully completed all of Batteries Plus Bulbs' training requirements. This ensures that even if the franchisee delegates the store's supervision, qualified and trained personnel are always present.
This requirement ensures that every Batteries Plus Bulbs store maintains consistent operational standards and quality of service. For a prospective franchisee, this means either being directly involved in the store's day-to-day operations or ensuring that qualified and trained managers are in place. The need for multiple trained managers if the franchisee is not directly supervising adds to the operational costs and responsibilities.
