What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Batteries Plus Bulbs FDD, in addition to franchisees, Batteries-owned stores also contribute to the National Marketing Fund (NMF). These company-owned stores contribute to the NMF Fund on the same basis as franchisees. This means that the contribution is calculated in the same way, ensuring that company-owned stores support the marketing efforts alongside the franchisees.
The NMF is used for various advertising, marketing, and promotional activities at the national, regional, and local levels. These activities include print, radio, television, internet, and billboard advertising, as well as support for key accounts programs and e-commerce website activities. The fund also covers the costs of market intelligence analytics and the employment of advertising and marketing agencies. The franchisor determines how the NMF funds are used and is reimbursed for reasonable administrative costs.
For a prospective franchisee, this means that a portion of their revenue, specifically 1% of Net Revenues, will go towards a collective marketing effort that benefits the entire Batteries Plus Bulbs system. The inclusion of contributions from company-owned stores ensures a broader financial base for the NMF, potentially leading to more robust and effective marketing campaigns. Franchisees should be aware that the franchisor has the discretion to decide how the NMF funds are spent, and while an annual unaudited statement of receipts and disbursements is available upon request, there is no guarantee that the spending will directly benefit their specific store location.
