Notes:

  • (2) The Initial Franchise Fee is described in Item 5.

If you sign an Area Development Agreement, you must commit to opening more than one Basecamp Studio, and you will pay the Development Fee at the time you sign the Area Development Agreement.

The Development Fee will be credited to the Initial Franchise Fee due under each Franchise Agreement you or your affiliate signs for each Basecamp Studio developed under the Area Development Agreement.

The Development Fee is described in Item 5.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee of $42,500 is generally non-refundable. However, there is an exception if you sign an Area Development Agreement.

Under an Area Development Agreement, a prospective Basecamp Fitness franchisee commits to opening more than one studio. In this case, the Development Fee paid at the time of signing the Area Development Agreement will be credited towards the Initial Franchise Fee for each studio developed under the agreement. This means that while the initial Development Fee itself may not be refundable, it effectively offsets the otherwise non-refundable Initial Franchise Fees for the individual Basecamp Fitness studios opened under the development agreement.

This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, where development fees are often credited towards franchise fees as an incentive for multi-unit development. Prospective Basecamp Fitness franchisees should carefully consider the terms of the Area Development Agreement and the number of studios they are willing to commit to before signing.
