Under the Area Development Agreement, what standards must each Basecamp Fitness studio meet?
Basecamp_Fitness Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
Under the Area Development Agreement, you will have the right to develop, open, and operate multiple Basecamp Studios. Each Basecamp Studio must be developed and opened according to our then-current System standards and other approval requirements. You or your affiliates must sign our then-current form of Franchise Agreement for each Basecamp Studio you develop and open under the Area Development Agreement, which may contain materially different terms and conditions than the Franchise Agreement attached to this Disclosure Document. We will determine or approve the location of future Basecamp Studios and any protected territories for those Basecamp Studios based on our then-current System standards for sites and protected territories.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee enters into an Area Development Agreement, each Basecamp Fitness studio must be developed and opened according to the franchisor's then-current System standards and other approval requirements. The franchisor will determine or approve the location of future Basecamp Studios and any protected territories for those Basecamp Studios based on their then-current System standards for sites and protected territories.
Before a Basecamp Fitness studio opens, the franchisor must approve or disapprove the site location. Once a site is approved, the franchisor will provide a Protected Territory for the studio. Franchisees also gain online access to the Operations Manual, which contains mandatory and suggested specifications, standards, and procedures. The franchisor also provides a prototype floor plan and a list of required equipment, displays, fixtures, and furnishings. Additionally, a Compliance Drawing is provided, with additional drawings available for a fee of $250 per drawing.
The franchisor also requires franchisees to retain their designated architectural vendor to create a complete set of detailed Construction Documents. If a franchisee wants to use a different vendor, the franchisor will review the Construction Documents at the franchisee's cost. The franchisee will be given the right to open a Basecamp Studio at a location that the franchisor agrees on. Franchisees have 12 months from signing the Franchise Agreement to secure an approved location and begin operating their Basecamp Studio. The franchisor will provide specifications to assist in evaluating and selecting a site and may offer recommendations. A Basecamp Studio should ideally be 2,500 square feet but no larger than 3,000 square feet.
