Under a Basecamp Fitness Area Development Agreement, when is the Development Fee paid, and is it refundable?
Basecamp_Fitness Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
If you sign an ADA, the initial franchise fee is referred to as a Development Fee, and you pay it in full, for all the Basecamp studios you commit to open, when you sign the Development Agreement. All portions of the Development Fee are deemed fully earned by us once paid and are non-refundable.
The number of Basecamp Studios we will allow you to open under an ADA may be limited by various factors, including the market in which you choose to develop.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Development Fee under an Area Development Agreement (ADA) is paid in full when you sign the Development Agreement. This fee covers all Basecamp studios you commit to opening under the ADA.
It is important to note that once the Development Fee is paid to Basecamp Fitness, it is considered fully earned by them and is non-refundable. This means that if you decide not to open all the studios you committed to, or if the agreement is terminated for any reason, you will not receive a refund of the Development Fee.
The number of Basecamp Studios you are allowed to open under an ADA may be limited based on factors such as the market you choose to develop. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider their market and development plans before signing an ADA and paying the Development Fee, as it represents a significant, non-refundable investment.
