What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Basecamp Fitness Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee transfers their franchise to a new owner, the new owner must enter into a new franchise agreement with Basecamp Fitness. The terms of this new agreement will generally be those that Basecamp Fitness offers to new franchisees at that time, which includes the fees payable and the size of the territory granted.
However, the transferee will not be required to pay a new initial franchise fee. Unless otherwise agreed, the term of the new franchise agreement will be the remaining term of the original franchisee's agreement.
The proposed transferee must also agree in writing to perform any maintenance, remodeling, or re-equipping of the Basecamp Studio that Basecamp Fitness deems necessary to bring the studio into compliance with their current standards. This includes any necessary updates to technology and security equipment.
