What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees may be required to use a designated architectural vendor to create construction documents for their studio. Specifically, the franchisee must retain the designated architectural vendor to create a complete set of detailed construction documents and to complete construction of the facility in compliance with Basecamp Fitness's mandatory specifications. This vendor is also responsible for obtaining any required permits and ensuring the premises conform to local ordinances or building codes. If a franchisee does not use Basecamp Fitness's designated architectural vendor, they may be charged a fee of $2,700 to review the construction documents. Basecamp Fitness may require franchisees opening their first studio to use their designated architectural vendor.

Basecamp Fitness also provides a prototype floor plan and will create a specific studio layout/design for the franchisee's Basecamp Studio, called a Compliance Drawing. The franchisee is responsible for conforming the prototype plans to their space and constructing the premises in compliance with all local laws. The franchisee must supply Basecamp Fitness with accurate site information, including as-built drawings, surveys, technical data, construction documents, and site plans, to allow them to create a Compliance Drawing.

These stipulations ensure that all Basecamp Fitness studios adhere to the brand's standards and comply with local regulations. By mandating or incentivizing the use of a designated architectural vendor, Basecamp Fitness aims to maintain consistency and quality across all franchise locations. Franchisees need to factor in these architectural requirements and potential fees when planning their initial investment and build-out process. Franchisees are responsible for ensuring their Basecamp Studio is developed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and other governing requirements, as well as Basecamp Fitness's mandatory specifications and any Compliance Drawing.
