What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for maintaining their studio premises, including equipment. Specifically, the franchisee must keep all equipment in good working order and ensure it meets Basecamp Fitness's quality standards. This requirement is part of the broader standards of quality and service that Basecamp Fitness promulgates to protect the goodwill associated with its brand.
To meet these standards, franchisees must purchase approved types, models, or brands of equipment, furniture, and fixtures that meet Basecamp Fitness's standards for quality, design, warranties, appearance, function, and performance. While Basecamp Fitness does not approve every item, they retain the right to approve the manufacturer or supplier of any item used in the studio's operation. This ensures consistency and quality across all Basecamp Fitness locations.
Furthermore, Basecamp Fitness may designate the technology systems used in the studio, including the point of sale system, computer hardware and software, security systems, audio and video systems, related components, cloud-based technology, and other equipment. Franchisees must acquire the right to use these designated information systems and obtain any necessary peripheral equipment and accessories. This integrated approach to equipment and technology helps maintain a uniform brand experience and operational efficiency across the franchise system.
Failure to maintain the premises and equipment to Basecamp Fitness's standards could result in a breach of the franchise agreement. Franchisees should, therefore, prioritize regular maintenance and promptly address any equipment issues to ensure compliance and maintain the quality of service expected by Basecamp Fitness members.
