Can Basecamp Fitness require franchisees to upgrade or update their computer systems during the franchise term?

Neither we, nor any affiliate nor to our knowledge, any third party, is obligated to provide you with ongoing maintenance, repairs, upgrades or updates to your computer hardware or software. We may require you to upgrade or update the computer system (including hardware and software) during the term of the franchise, and we anticipate that you will be required to do so. You may be required to pay initial and/or ongoing license, support or service fees associated with such upgrades or updates. There are no contractual limitations on the frequency and cost of the obligation. Other than as described above, we do not have any contractual obligation to upgrade or update any of your hardware or software, during the term of this franchise.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Basecamp Fitness may require franchisees to upgrade or update their computer systems, including both hardware and software, during the term of the franchise agreement. The FDD anticipates that franchisees will likely be required to perform these upgrades or updates. Franchisees may also be required to pay initial and ongoing license, support, or service fees associated with these upgrades or updates.
There are no contractual limitations on the frequency and cost of these required upgrades or updates. This means Basecamp Fitness has the discretion to mandate these changes as often as they deem necessary, and franchisees will be responsible for covering the associated expenses.
Franchisees are responsible for maintaining sufficient computer skills to operate the computer system and access email and the Internet. They are also responsible for protecting themselves from viruses, computer hackers, and other computer-related problems. Basecamp Fitness recommends that the computer system be used for business purposes only and not for personal use.
