What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, before construction begins on a Basecamp Fitness studio, Basecamp Fitness will create a Compliance Drawing, which is a specific studio layout and design. To enable Basecamp Fitness to create this drawing, the franchisee must supply accurate site information for the proposed location. This information includes as-built drawings, surveys, technical data, construction documents, and site plans.
This Compliance Drawing is essential because the Basecamp Fitness studio must be developed not only in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and codes but also with Basecamp Fitness's mandatory specifications and the Compliance Drawing itself. The franchisee cannot commence construction until they have received written consent from Basecamp Fitness regarding the actual design of the studio.
If a franchisee requires additional Compliance Drawings beyond the initial one, they must pay Basecamp Fitness's then-current fee for each additional drawing. Furthermore, franchisees are obligated to retain Basecamp Fitness's designated architectural vendor to create a complete set of detailed construction documents and to complete the construction of the facility in compliance with Basecamp Fitness's mandatory specifications. This also includes obtaining required permits and conforming the premises to local ordinances or building codes. However, if the franchisee chooses not to use Basecamp Fitness's designated architectural vendor, they may be required to pay a fee for Basecamp Fitness to review and approve the construction documents, and for first-time franchisees, Basecamp Fitness may mandate the use of their designated vendor.
