What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the advertising fund is used for specific purposes related to marketing and promotion. Basecamp Fitness collects advertising fees from franchisees, and these funds are restricted in their use.
The permitted uses of the advertising fund include advertising, product development, public relations, and administrative expenses. This means that the fees collected are specifically earmarked for creating marketing campaigns, developing new products, managing the brand's public image, and covering the administrative costs associated with these activities. The FDD also mentions that the company provides administrative services to the advertising fund and charges a fee for these services.
Additionally, the FDD notes that fees collected from franchisees related to continuing engagement credits are included in the advertising fund. These funds are used by the company at its discretion on behalf of the Anytime Fitness brand and its franchisees. This indicates that while some advertising funds are specifically for Basecamp Fitness, a portion may be used more broadly across the Anytime Fitness brand, as Basecamp Fitness Franchisor LLC is an affiliate of Anytime Fitness.
Prospective franchisees should be aware that the advertising fund is managed by Basecamp Fitness, and the company has discretion over how the funds are spent within the defined categories. Franchisees may want to inquire about the specific allocation of advertising funds and the types of marketing activities that are prioritized to ensure they align with their expectations.
