Answer from 2025 FDD Document

  • A. Site Acquisition. Prior to the acquisition by lease or purchase of the site for your Basecamp Studio, you will submit to us such information and materials as we may require, which may include, but not be limited to, your proposed lease. We will have ten (10) business days after receipt of the information and materials we requested to approve or disapprove your proposed site. No site will be deemed approved unless it has been expressly approved in writing by us by notice of site approval sent to you. Our examination and approval of the location of your Basecamp Studio site does not constitute a representation, guaranty or warranty, express or implied, of the successful operation or profitability of the Basecamp Studio at that location. In addition, we may require you to furnish us with a copy of the signed lease within five (5) days after its execution. Following our approval of the site and your acquisition of it, you authorize us to amend the Rider to this Agreement, without your signature, to identify: (1) the address of the site; and (2) the Protected Territory via a map or description of an area surrounding the site.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Basecamp Fitness has ten business days to approve or disapprove a proposed site for a new Basecamp Studio. This review period begins after Basecamp Fitness receives all the information and materials they require from the franchisee, which may include the proposed lease agreement. The FDD specifies that site approval must be express and in writing, communicated to the franchisee via a notice of site approval.

This approval process is a critical step for prospective franchisees. It ensures that the location meets Basecamp Fitness's standards and has the potential to operate successfully. However, the document explicitly states that Basecamp Fitness's approval does not guarantee the studio's profitability or successful operation at that location. The franchisee bears the ultimate responsibility for the studio's performance.

Franchisees must furnish a copy of the signed lease within five days of its execution. After Basecamp Fitness approves the site and the franchisee acquires it, Basecamp Fitness can amend the franchise agreement's rider without the franchisee's signature to formally identify the site's address and the protected territory, using a map or description of the surrounding area. This amendment clarifies the franchisee's exclusive operating area.

It is important for prospective Basecamp Fitness franchisees to understand that site approval is just one step in the process. Franchisees must still meet all other obligations, such as purchasing a Build-Out Package, to successfully launch their studio. The Build-Out Package includes signage, initial marketing materials, furniture, fixtures, and a design kit, all of which must be ordered through Basecamp Fitness's online portal.
