If a Basecamp Fitness franchisee does not personally supervise the studio, what designation must they make?

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

While we do not require that you personally supervise your Basecamp Studio, we recommend that you do so. If you are not the "on premise" manager of the Basecamp Studio, then you must designate a Principal Operator to serve as your on-premise manager. Each Basecamp Studio must employ a studio manager, a fitness manager, plus fitness coaches. The individual you designate as the "Principal Operator" and your studio manager must complete our Initial Training Program. The fitness manager must complete the Day In the Life Operations Training, which is a segment of the Initial Training Program.

You, and your Principal Operator if you have one, must attend and participate in any on-site visits by our corporate representatives at your Studio. You must participate in any scheduled business review calls scheduled by our corporate representatives and you must provide us with accurate and complete financial statements, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets, for your Studio upon our request, and in

advance of any scheduled business review call(s). We do not impose any limitations on whom you can hire as your Principal Operator, but that person must complete our initial training requirements and all other training we reasonably designate, and that person along with your studio and fitness manager must sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement with you that meets our requirements and that you provide to us before they attend training. We also require you to designate a Principal Owner of your business to attend our Conference each year, even if that person is not personally supervising your Basecamp Studio. We do not require the Principal Operator of your business to have any ownership interest in your business.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, while it is recommended that franchisees personally supervise their Basecamp Studio, it is not required. If a franchisee chooses not to be the "on premise" manager, they must designate a Principal Operator to fulfill this role.

The designated Principal Operator will act as the on-premise manager and must complete Basecamp Fitness's Initial Training Program. This ensures that the Principal Operator is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage the studio effectively. Additionally, both the franchisee and the Principal Operator are required to attend any on-site visits by Basecamp Fitness corporate representatives and participate in scheduled business review calls.

Basecamp Fitness does not impose any limitations on who can be hired as the Principal Operator, nor does the Principal Operator need to have any ownership interest in the business. However, the chosen individual must complete the initial training requirements and any other training deemed necessary by Basecamp Fitness. Furthermore, the Principal Operator, along with the studio and fitness manager, must sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement that meets Basecamp Fitness's requirements. The franchisee must provide this agreement to Basecamp Fitness before the designated personnel attend training. The franchisee must also designate a Principal Owner of the business to attend Basecamp Fitness's Conference each year, even if that person is not personally supervising the Basecamp Studio.
