If I have an Area Development Agreement with Basecamp Fitness, when must I open my studio?
Basecamp_Fitness Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
Unless otherwise agreed in writing by us, you must open your Basecamp Studio on the Required Opening Date, but in no event more than twelve (12) months from the Effective Date. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if you are entering into this Agreement pursuant to the terms of an Area Development Agreement executed between you and us, you will open your Basecamp Studio on or before the date set forth in the "Development Schedule" (as defined in the Area Development Agreement). Your failure to open your Basecamp Studio on or before the Required Opening Date will constitute a default of this Agreement and allow us to terminate this Agreement.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you enter into the Franchise Agreement as part of an Area Development Agreement, the opening date for your Basecamp Studio will be determined by the Development Schedule outlined in that Area Development Agreement. This supersedes the standard requirement to open within twelve months of the Franchise Agreement's effective date.
Failing to open the Basecamp Studio by the date specified in the Development Schedule constitutes a default of the Franchise Agreement. This gives Basecamp Fitness the right to terminate the agreement.
Therefore, as a prospective franchisee, it is crucial to carefully review and understand the Development Schedule within the Area Development Agreement to ensure you can meet the required opening dates for each Basecamp Fitness studio you plan to develop. Missing these deadlines can have significant consequences, including termination of your franchise rights.
