What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have specific responsibilities regarding data security. If a franchisee suspects or knows of a security breach, they must immediately notify Basecamp Fitness. Additionally, the franchisee is required to promptly identify and remediate the source of the security breach at their own expense.

Beyond immediate notification and remediation, the Basecamp Fitness franchisee assumes all responsibility for providing notices of the breach or compromise. This includes monitoring credit histories and transactions of members and other customers of the Basecamp Fitness studio, unless Basecamp Fitness directs otherwise. This places a significant burden on the franchisee to stay vigilant and proactive in protecting sensitive information.

These requirements highlight the importance of data protection and security within the Basecamp Fitness franchise system. Franchisees should ensure they have robust security measures in place and are prepared to act swiftly and decisively in the event of a breach. The financial responsibility for identifying and fixing the breach, as well as the responsibility for notifying affected parties, underscores the potential risks associated with handling sensitive customer data.
