What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Basecamp Fitness's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not allowed to independently establish any digital presence related to the brand without prior approval from Basecamp Fitness. This restriction extends to websites, web pages, review pages, social media profiles, and any other online communication methods that reference Basecamp Fitness, the franchisee's studio, or the Basecamp Fitness system.
This requirement means that a prospective Basecamp Fitness franchisee must seek and obtain approval before launching any online platform or campaign. Basecamp Fitness retains the right to refuse, reject, adjust, or demand changes to any advertising material prepared by the franchisee. Furthermore, franchisees are obligated to provide Basecamp Fitness with full administrative access, including login information, to all social media accounts, profiles, pages, business managers, and ad accounts associated with their studio or that utilize Basecamp Fitness's trademarks. Ownership-level access to any Google Business profiles is also required.
This level of control allows Basecamp Fitness to maintain brand consistency and manage the online reputation of all its franchises. While it may seem restrictive, it ensures that all online communications align with the brand's standards and marketing strategies. Franchisees benefit from this centralized approach as it provides a consistent message to potential customers and protects the brand's image. However, franchisees must factor in the time required for approval when planning their marketing activities, as Basecamp Fitness requires prior approval at least 4 weeks before any advertising materials are used.
For a prospective franchisee, this underscores the importance of close collaboration with Basecamp Fitness on all marketing and advertising initiatives. It also highlights the need to understand and adhere to the brand's guidelines and procedures for online communication. Failing to comply with these requirements could result in penalties or other enforcement actions by Basecamp Fitness.
